An Introduction…

Family Matters

Family matters so much that we believe it is the heart of our church body. We know that strong families create a strong church. God established the family as His primary way for passing on the truth of His Word from one generation to the next. Let’s look at Psalms 78: 5-8

For He established a testimony in Jacob and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children:

That the generation to come might know them, even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children:

That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of god, but keep his commandments:

And might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation; a generation that set not their heart aright, and whose spirit was not steadfast with God.

Does the scripture apply to our modern day families? The answer is a resounding yes! Today more than ever we need strong spirit-filled parents who desire to raise their children according to God’s Word. How will our children know the redeeming experience of being born again? How will they capture our love for Him? By moms and dads who love their children enough to train them and demonstrate God’s love on a daily basis. God’s clear command is for parents to share God’s word with our precious children. As a church we share that burden for your children. Bartlett UPC offers support Nursery Care (age 0-2) and other activities all the way through Youth Group.

Family Ministry also hosts several “Friends & Family” Sundays throughout the year. The purpose of these special Sundays is to provide a time for our church families to fellowship and share a meal. We also extend an invitation to all your friends and family who may not attend our church. It’s an opportunity to come together and celebrate Jesus through a service filled with godly, up-lifting praise and anointed, powerful preaching. Afterwards, we come together for a special dinner in our fellowship hall. It’s free to our guests and has proven to be quite encouraging and memorable to everyone.

Family Ministry also hosts an annual church picnic with Bar-B-Que and a delicious potluck dinner. There’s lots of family activities for all ages. Everyone brings their coolers, lawn chairs and sports equipment. If you like outdoor fun you won’t want to miss this. Look for this every year in August or September.
